3X Grammy Award nominee and popular singer-songwriter Brian Courtney Wilson releases Marvin Gaye classic, "Inner City Blues," July 24, on all digital platforms.
Recorded last year for a special Motown Records 60th celebration, Wilson will re-release an extended version of the song as a response to the current movement for change, and justice. As relevant today as it was almost 50 years ago, "Inner City Blues," remains a powerful declaration against the injustices and police brutality that face the Black Community.
Wilson is a modern-day, soul singer ("Worth Fighting For," "A Great Work,” “All I Need,” who profoundly feels the impact of today's current events, and this song holds as much meaning to him today, as it did to those who first heard Marvin Gaye's impassioned vocals. Lyrically, the song is an indictment on the widening gulf of inequality, racial instability, and social hardship that was prevalent then and continues now. Wilson delivers them with just as much potency.
In conjunction with the release, Wilson performed the song for the Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy for their Facebook Live "Healing Together: Conversations and Music" event in support of MusiCares.
Brian also launches a new conversation series on Instagram and on the Houston-based Amazing 102.5 radio station called "Breathe Again with Brian Courtney Wilson." This series will feature ministry leaders, mental health clinicians, artists, and community activists to focus on moving past the pain of injustice and loss. Focusing on encouraging and empowering positive esteem within the Black community, "Breathe Again," will offer constructive and worthwhile conversations for these unprecedented times.
“It’s important to me to make an impact on my community, and all communities where it is needed,” said Wilson. “I believe collectively we can repair the breaches - racial injustice, poverty, access to healthcare, pay disparities - that continue to separate our communities.”
"Breathe Again" will premiered Thursday, July 23 at 7:00pm EST on Instagram Live @BrianCourtneyWilson with Pastor Juanita Rasmus, co-pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church in Houston TX, and author of the upcoming book "Learning To Be."

Eight years seems like a lifetime to wait, finally GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter Brandy releases her highly anticipated seventh studio album, b7, today via Brand Nu Entertainment/Entertainment One (“eOne”). Executive produced by Brandy along with DJ Camper and LaShawn Daniels, this 15-track confessional is her most personal to date as she debuts her writing skills for the first time in her career. With songs like “No Tomorrow” and the instant-grat track “Rather Be,” Brandy was able to take her life’s lessons and channel them into her first masterpiece as an independent artist. The album also features Daniel Caesar on the GRAMMY- nominated single “Love Again,” which has garnered over 85 million streams worldwide, Chance The Rapper, and her daughter Sy-rai Smith who appears on the single “High Heels” and background vocals for “Baby Mama.” Other featured producers and writers include Hit Boy, Cory Rooney, Victoria Monét, Antonio “Tony” Dixon, Kim “Kaydence” Krysiuk among others. The album is available now at all physical and digital retailers.
Also today, she releases the powerful video for her new single “Borderline.” The dark, edgy track has Brandy interrogating her relationship with love over a hypnotic, downtempo groove. The haunting video for “Borderline” was directed by Derek Blanks and illustrates the darker, emotional loneliness that can take over a romantic relationship. “This is my most personal album to date,” says Brandy. “Every song tells a story.”
“Borderline” is at radio now and follows her single, “Baby Mama,” which is currently Top 10 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart. Watch the video for “Baby Mama,” ft. Chance the Rapper, here.
b7 marries the silky, smooth vibe she established on Never Say Never with the groundbreaking experimentation of Full Moon, albums that are revered as R&B blueprints for their use of multi-layered harmonies, unconventional song structures and forward-thinking electro-soul beats. The album explores Brandy’s journey over the last few years, and how she came to be the resilient, spiritually grounded women she is today.

James L. Patterson's Single "Serve God 'Til I Die" Most Added At Gospel Radio / Digital Release Set For June 26
|Posted on June 23, 2020 at 7:50 PM||comments (0)|
Orangeburg, SC -- James L. Patterson is an independent artist who is always on the move. From his debut single "Better Is On The Way" in 2014, to his chart-topping single "Move" in 2019, Patterson has performed, promoted and pushed his way through the Gospel music industry. He is an established Gospel artist with an innate gift and passion for music.
Patterson has a new single at Gospel radio, “Serve God ''Til I Die”, which reflects a new traditional choir sound mixed with the Gullah and Geechee culture, history, and traditional sounds.
Deeply rooted in music traditions brought to the Americas by enslaved Africans, Gullah Geechee music evolved out of the conditions of slavery that characterized their lives. The influence and evolution of musical forms that arose out of Gullah music can be heard in many musical genres throughout history and even today such as spirituals and gospel music, ragtime, rhythm and blues, soul, hip hop, and jazz.
Patterson infuses influences of the Gullah Geechee sound with his robust voice and energetic delivery to create a Gospel song that ushers an atmosphere of praise and celebrates sacred music history. In addition, "Serve God 'Til I Die' is a timely release during the observance of Black Music Month this month.
Patterson's rendition of this sacred song is produced by Jamaine Eric Holmes for Mixed Waves Soundz. The single was recently serviced to Gospel radio and has already hit the Billboard Gospel Radio Indicator Most Added list this week. "Serve God 'Til I Die" will be available June 26 on all digital and streaming music platforms.
Patterson is an Orangeburg, SC native who is devoted to applying his God-given gift of music in every facet of his life. He is currently a music teacher and band/chorus director at Cross Elementary and Cross High School in South Carolina. His dedication to music education has earned him a nomination for The Recording Academy® and Grammy Museum® 2021 Music Educator Award™. From nearly 2,000 nominations submitted this year, Patterson is one of 216 who has advanced to the quarterfinals. The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators (kindergarten through college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools. Each year, one recipient is selected from 10 finalists and recognized during Grammy® week for their remarkable impact on students' lives. The nine additional finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium, and the schools of all 10 finalists will receive matching grants.
